Sometimes it needs parasites to gnaw on the familiar.

The project „Schadholz“ (english: damaged wood) tells stories about destruction and aesthetics, about harm and use.

Wood, that has been infested by bark beetles, is usually discarded in the furniture industry, becoming firewood. But the material is so rich in beautiful textures that we couldn't resist - we teamed up with a forester who chopped down an infested tree for us and then carved out the extraordinary textures of the the wood - and where once beetles ate their way into the tree, we can now put our own plates. Let's celebrate the flaw!
The table wins an award for young design and is exhibited at the summer fair "Salon Jardin".
